Over the past week, Turkish merchant bar producers have mostly decreased their merchant bar prices by TRY 50-300/mt ($3-9/mt) amid the ongoing depreciation of the Turkish lira against the US dollar and sluggish demand due to the adverse weather conditions.
One Iskenderun-based mill has issued its equal angle price at TRY 26,300/mt ($608/mt) ex-works, stable in Turkish liras, while down by only 1/mt on US dollar basis, over the past week.
Most merchant bar sellers are still offering either for deliveries in February or from stocks, depending on the size.
Most buyers are unwilling to restock material due to the sluggish demand ahead of the Turkish Central Bank's interest rate decision due on Thursday, January 22.
