Over the past week, local Turkish official merchant bar prices have risen by TRY 1,400-1,735/mt, with minor changes on US dollar basis against the backdrop of the ongoing depreciation of the Turkish lira against the US dollar and given the unclear financial situation in the country. One Iskenderun-based mill has issued its official merchant bar price at TRY 15,900/mt ($671/mt) ex-works, up TRY 1,400/mt over the past week, while remaining unchanged on US dollar basis.
Most merchant bar sellers are offering for late June-July delivery and only limited tonnages are available from stocks. A few re-rollers are offering their HEA/HEB (100-200 mm, standard) prices at TRY 20,300/mt ($857/mt), excluding VAT, ex-works.
The general sentiment on the demand side is weak ahead of the Feast of Sacrifice holiday.
