Over the past week, Turkish official domestic merchant bar prices have fallen by TRY 100-150/mt ($8-10/mt) amid the ongoing currency fluctuations, sluggish demand and the negative sentiment in the import scrap prices.
One Iskenderun-based mill issued its official merchant bar price at TRY 16,900/mt ($605/mt) ex-works yesterday, falling by $8/mt from a week ago.
Most merchant bar sellers are offering for November delivery, while a limited tonnage is also available either for late October delivery or from stocks. A few re-rollers are also offering their HEA/HEB (550-700 mm, standard) at TRY 23,800/mt ($852/mt), ex-works for delivery in the Karabuk region, falling by TRY 200/mt ($13/mt), SteelOrbis has heard.
The general sentiment on the demand side is negative. According to sources, additional sizeable discounts are applicable for serious buyers.
