Local Turkish merchant bar prices drop significantly

Tuesday, 28 January 2020 17:15:33 (GMT+3)   |   Istanbul

Domestic merchant bar prices in Turkey have decreased by TRY 30-65/mt week on week, mainly due to negative sentiment in the scrap segment and downward expectations for both local and import prices of billet. Most buyers are cautious regarding new purchases and are aiming to avoid restocking before having a clearer picture of the import scrap market. Market sources indicate that trading activity for large size beams (180 mm and above) is moderate.
