Over the past week, Turkish domestic official merchant bar prices have mainly remained unchanged in the local currency in the Izmir and Denizli regions, while up by TRY 30-50/mt in the rest of the country. The main reason is the ongoing currency fluctuations and most merchant bar re-rollers are at least attempting to maintain their official prices due to the positive sentiment in the import billet segment. On the US dollar basis indicates minor changes.
One Iskenderun-based mill has raised its official merchant bar price by TRY 50/mt to TRY 16,650/mt ($610/mt) ex-works, while falling by $4/mt on US dolar basis, over the same period.
Most merchant bar sellers are offering either for October delivery or from stocks. Most local buyers are taking their time before concluding new purchases ahead of the new energy price announcement due early next week.
