Over the past week, Turkish merchant bar producers have kept their official domestic prices unchanged in the local currency with minor changes on US dollar basis against the backdrop of the ongoing currency fluctuations. According to sources, discounts of up to $5/mt are possible depending on the tonnage and payment terms, for serious buyers.
One Iskenderun-based mill has issued its equal angle price at TRY 26,300/mt ($609/mt) ex-works, unchanged in Turkish liras, while down by only $2/mt on US dollar basis, week on week.
Most merchant bar sellers are still offering either for deliveries in February or from stocks, depending on the size.
Most buyers are in wait-and-see mode due to the adverse weather conditions.
