Wire rod prices have increased in Italy due to tight supply and limited and uncompetitive imports, market sources have told SteelOrbis. Local producers are offering drawing quality wire rod (SAE1006) at €540-560/mt delivered, which is up €55/mt compared to one month ago and up €10/mt compared to one week ago. At the same time, the reference price for mesh quality wire rod is €520-530/mt delivered. Local wire rod prices are supported not only by low availability, but also by the uptrend of feedstocks, i.e., scrap and billet prices, sources underlined. Wire rod prices in Italy are predicted to remain strong into the new year.
