Local Italian rebar market moves sideways

Domestic rebar prices have trended sideways in Italy in the past week, even though local scrap prices have increased and tight supply is recorded for some rebar specifications. In fact, weak domestic demand, especially due to bad weather, is slowing down construction activities. As a result, the reference prices for local rebar have remained stable at €430-440/mt ex-works.

As for the export market, as reported previously, Italian rebar producers are fully booked and are expected to give their new offers in early January for shipments by sea. However, they have kept exporting by truck to neighboring countries, as usual, at prices in line with Italian domestic rebar prices.
