According to market sources, domestic rebar prices in Italy have trended sideways in the past week, remaining at €485-490/mt ($548-554/mt) ex-works. As reported previously, domestic producers are seeking to increase their prices, and in fact are now asking for a minimum price of €490/mt ($554/mt) ex-works. However, local demand is still very weak, and sources are not sure that the market will be able to absorb higher prices.

As for the export market, the latest few sales by ship have been concluded at €475-480/mt ($537-542/mt) FOB - to destinations such as the US and Algeria - but the most important "relief valve" for Italian rebar producers has been represented by exports by truck to northern and eastern European countries.
