The downward trend of domestic rebar prices in Italy has not come to a halt yet. According to market sources, local producers’ prices have decreased by €15/mt on average during the past week, to €470/mt ($531/mt) ex-works. Transaction volumes, which were already at very low levels, have also been impacted by the bad weather. Meanwhile, even Italian rebar producers' sales to the export markets are slack, with the exception of regular sales by truck to other European markets. According to market sources, Italian rebar prices may halt their decrease since early predictions regarding the local scrap market are mostly for a sideways trend in February.
