Demand for special steel in the local Turkish market has remained slack during the past week. Since locally produced wire rod is used as raw material in cold drawing special steel production, cold drawing special steel prices have remained unchanged in the same period due to the sideways movement in wire rod quotations.
In the same period, hot drawing heat treatable steel and spring steel prices have increased in line with the rises seen in billet quotations as billet is used as raw material in the production process. However, hot drawing carbon steel prices have remained unchanged week on week due to slack demand.
As of May 4, 2016, Turkish steelmaker Coskun Group's special steel prices are at the following levels:
