According to sources, prices for drawing quality low carbon
wire rod in the Italian domestic
wire rod market are still at around €460/mt ($515mt) delivered to customer. However, demand is low and market players believe that
wire rod prices will decrease in the coming period, also given the slight decreases in scrap prices recorded in past weeks. Meanwhile, import
wire rod prices in
Italy are in line with local prices. Suppliers of imports do not want to grant a price advantage, while any import purchases by Italian buyers are merely strategic.
