Demand in the local Italian rebar market is still slack, while domestic rebar prices have decreased only slightly in the past three weeks, from €470-480/mt to €470-475/mt ($522-527/mt) ex-works.
"Bad weather has not helped during May, but it is evident that construction sites are lacking," commented one market source.
Considering that domestic scrap prices should trend sideways in the coming month, no big changes are expected in domestic rebar prices either. The only satisfaction for Italian rebar producers seems to be coming from the export markets, where they have filled their orders for June deliveries.
