SteelOrbis has learned that in the Italian domestic market local producers’ rebar prices are still at €490/mt ex-works, i.e., virtually unchanged compared to 10 days ago. Nevertheless, demand continues to be low and several operators complain about difficulties in obtaining payments. As for exports, sluggishness is still observed in terms of activity to the Algerian market. Algerian buyers are expecting price decreases and at the moment they are asking for price levels which are not feasible according to Italian suppliers. Officially Italian producers’ offers are standing at €445-455/mt FOB, but sources polled by SteelOrbis say that producers will not be able to sell at levels higher than €450/mt FOB. Currently, there are no transactions, but Italian producers have collected enough orders for the month of October and so they are not under any particular pressure for the time being. 1€ = 1,36$
