The Italian rebar market has not yet awakened from its summer slumber. For this reason, market sources are struggling to provide a precise price indication. However, it can be said that domestic producers are trying to keep their prices at around €450-460/mt ($500-511/mt) ex-works, i.e., at the same levels that were recorded just before the holidays. Meanwhile, at least one Italian mill is offering rebar to the export market. SteelOrbis has learned of an offer for 10,000 mt of rebar at €440-445/mt ($488-494/mt) FOB with September shipment. Offers at this level, according to some operators, may not last long considering the declining trend of raw material prices and the competitiveness of Turkish offers.
