According to market sources, wire rod prices have decreased further in the Italian market. Local drawing quality wire rod (SAE1006) prices went from €470-480/mt in August to €455-460/mt at the beginning of September, while they are now at €450/mt ($492/mt), all for delivery to customer. However, SteelOrbis has learned that some buyers have already received a price of €445/mt for large volumes. Meanwhile, according to the sources, Turkey has been selling wire rod at $475/mt CFR Italy. There is still room in the EU for wire rod imports from Turkey, according to the latest updates on the EU safeguard quota, with 107,374 mt remaining unused out of 312,081 mt, while the quota for rebar imports from Turkey has almost been exhausted.
