Although interest and order activity for US import rebar had previously sustained despite pandemic-related shutdowns, a new surge in Covid-19 cases in the US have renewed uncertainty in the market, and many buyers are reportedly holding off on orders for now. For buyers willing to take the risk of waiting for product to arrive in an uncertain future, deals are likely available, sources say—but overall there has not been much movement in import rebar offer prices due to limited interest.

This week, offer prices for US import rebar are still at $28.00-$29.00 cwt. ($617-$639/mt or $560-$580/nt) DDP loaded truck at US Gulf ports from Turkey, while offers from Mexico are still at $28.50-$29.50 cwt. ($628-$650/mt or $570-$590/nt) DDP Houston.
