Gerdau Ameristeel follows Nucor with $40/nt hike for rebar

Effective with orders placed January 6, 2011, Gerdau Ameristeel is increasing the published price of reinforcing bar products by $2.00 cwt. ($44/mt or $40/nt).  All confirmed orders placed between December 11, 2010 and January 5, 2011 will be price protected if shipped on or before January 31, 2011.

In a letter to customers, the company indicated that "the market remains very volatile and we anticipate further increases in the near future."
