In the past week, ex-Turkey merchant bar prices have fallen by $30/mt on average to $660-700/mt FOB, mainly for September shipment, amid the negative sentiment in the import scrap and billet segments and rapid currency fluctuations.

Sources report a few inquiries have been received from the Middle East and most merchant bar producers are attempting to keep their export prices firm against the backdrop of slow international trading activity.

Turkish merchant bar export prices are currently at the following levels:

Price ($/mt)

Angle

660-700

IPN-UPN

670-710

Flat bar

690-730

All prices are on FOB basis and September shipment.
