According to market sources, domestic drawing quality (SAE1006) wire rod prices in Italy are currently in the range of €520-530/mt ($588-599/mt) delivered to customer, i.e., €10/mt higher on the lower end compared to one week ago.
While demand in the local Italian wire rod market is still very slack, local producers are trying to strengthen their prices due to the recent increase in scrap prices, the implementation of the EU safeguard quota and the rapid exhaustion of the wire rod import quota assigned to Turkey.
