Domestic rebar prices in Italy have trended sideways over the past week despite the recently recorded slight decrease in local scrap prices. In fact, starting from last week, local rebar producers in Italy have been trying hard to halt the falling trend of prices that had started at the end of August. Some of them have begun offering rebar at €250/mt ($285/mt) ex-works, but according to sources, transaction prices are still at €220-230/mt ($251-262/mt) ex-works. Meanwhile, there is a fragile equilibrium between local demand and supply - although there is a lack of orders for large tonnages, small sales continue regularly day by day, and producers are occasionally lacking some types of rebar.
