Domestic rebar prices in Italy decline slightly

According to sources, local producers' domestic rebar prices in Italy are currently at €385-390/mt ($408-413/mt) ex-works, indicating a slight decline of €5/mt compared to last week. Italian steel producers are struggling to obtain such prices given the very weak state of demand. Meanwhile, sources have pointed out that at least domestic scrap prices seem to have stabilized after the €10/mt decline that was recorded at the beginning of April.

Rebar exports from Italy to Algeria - the main export market for Italian producers - are still blocked, but sources have said that the release of rebar import licenses in Algeria now seem to be "around the corner". This, when it happens, it is expected to provide great relief for Italian rebar producers.
