Domestic rebar prices in Italy are still increasing, and are at €495-505/mt ($594-606/mt) ex-works, depending on producer and availability of diameters. Meanwhile, market sources reported that the official steel price surveys published by Milan Chamber of Commerce are still suspended. From February 2016 till the beginning of August 2017, the Milan Chamber of Commerce price survey had replaced that of Brescia Chamber of Commerce, which had suspended its price survey in February 2016 for the fear of investigations or fines by the Italian Competition Authority. Market sources said that this circumstance is causing confusion in the downstream market since the Chamber of Commerce data had been used as the basis for most contracts.
