According to market sources, demand in the local Italian rebar market is still weak, while prices are currently in the range of €460-470/mt ($543-555/mt) ex-works. Although local demand is slack in Italy, it has not decreased further in the past few weeks, though supply has increased due to the lack of sales to the export markets. Demand for Italian rebar is still lacking completely in Algeria, while sales to the US have been interrupted due to the lack of certainty concerning the US Section 232 tariffs. The Trump administration is due to announce a final decision on tariff exemptions by June 1.
