SteelOrbis has learned that most Italian producers are now offering rebar to the export markets at €350/mt ($392/mt) FOB for shipment in early May. On the other hand, a few producers prefer to await market developments and keep a close eye on scrap prices before giving new offers.
In the meantime, after the recent sharp increase in demand following the issuing of import licences in Algeria, demand for Italian rebar in this country has slowed down.

In the local Italian market, average rebar spot prices in the range of €335-340/mt ($375-381/mt) ex-works and demand is still low, even though some market players report improved sentiment regarding the prospects for the future.
