Demand in the local Spanish rebar market has increased slightly over the past week. Market sources state that some market players have concluded new deals due to their expectations of a rise in domestic rebar prices amid a lack of import competition and higher import scrap quotations, and also due to their belief that import quotas will be exhausted quickly. Meanwhile, other market players are maintaining their wait-and-see stance as they plan to take a share of the import quotas to be imposed on February 3. Since import rebar prices in Spain are more attractive, domestic rebar quotations have remained stable week on week for now, and are still at €510-520/mt ($581-593/mt) delivered to customer.
