As a result of the approaching snap elections in Turkey - to be held on June 24 - and due to the ongoing depreciation of the Turkish lira against the US dollar, demand in the local Turkish wire rod market has declined further over the past week. Potential decreases in the local Turkish wire rod market have been prevented by Turkish mills’ export sales as well as by the increases recorded in import scrap prices in June. Domestic wire rod offers in Turkey, which have stable for some time now, have again moved sideways in the past week.
