The increasing harshness and coldness of the winter weather in Bulgaria has allowed no reprieve for long steel demand in the country, which is already depressed.

In the Bulgarian domestic market, rebar retail prices are currently standing at BGN 940-950/mt ($627-633/mt), while SAE 1008 wire rod prices are at BGN 975-985/mt ($650-657/mt), both for deliveries to customer. Mills and traders are offering at the same price levels due to unfavorable market conditions.

Market players state that long steel imports to Bulgaria have grinded to a halt due to low demand and that producers are considering cuts in their production volumes for the same reason

In the remainder of December and in January, no improvement is expected to be seen in Bulgarian long steel demand.
