During the past week, demand for ex-CIS billet in the export markets has improved slightly due to the absence of China as the Chinese National Day (Oct. 1-7) holiday continues, though demand is still at low levels.
This week, three ex-CIS billet deals concluded at $315-320/mt CFR have been heard in Turkey - one of CIS-based suppliers' target markets for billet exports - as activity in the Turkish billet market has indicated a slight revival due to the increases seen in import scrap prices in Turkey. Following the latest deals, it is observed that ex-CIS billet quotations to the export markets have remained stable week on week at $300-325/mt FOB.
