Chinese rebar and wire rod export offers edge up

During the week ending January 13, Chinese export offer prices for rebar and wire rod have indicated a rising trend. At present, boron-added rebar offers to Southeast Asia given by Chinese suppliers are at $260-270/mt FOB, while boron-added wire rod offers from Chinese suppliers to the same destination are at $275-285/mt FOB.

Due to the rising trend of iron ore prices and the rebound in domestic rebar and wire rod prices, Chinese steelmakers and traders have raised their rebar and wire rod export offer prices slightly. However, since the rising movement of domestic rebar and wire rod prices has slowed down, it is thought that rebar and wire rod export offer prices from China will likely move sideways in the coming week.
