Chinese domestic steel section prices have showed a mostly slightly downtrend during the national holiday period.
As for billet, prices of the semi-finished steel product in the Chinese domestic market have slightly decreased during past week. In Tangshan, the current price of Q235 150 x 150 mm square billet is at RMB 3,430/mt ($485/mt), the price of 165 x 225 mm rectangular billet stands at RMB 3,450/mt ($488/mt), while the price of 20MnSi billet is at around RMB 3,530/mt ($499/mt). The prices are all ex-mill, including 13 percent VAT.
Prices in the local Chinese section market have indicated a slight fall during long holiday. Overall trading activity has been at low levels after the holiday which is the main reason caused some traders to slightly reduce their prices. Inventory levels in the local Chinese section market have slightly increased during holiday. Meanwhile, some steel producers have also choose to slightly cut their prices, which also lead most traders to adopt negative expectations about the future trend of the section market. As for the week ahead, it is believed that steel section prices may fluctuate with a slightly decreasing trend.
