Chinese domestic steel section prices have fluctuated with soft trend during the past week.
As for billet, prices of the semi-finished steel product in the Chinese domestic market have showed a declining trend during the past week. In Tangshan, the current price of Q235 150 x 150 mm square billet is at RMB 3,820/mt ($570/mt), the price of 165 x 225 mm rectangular billet stands at RMB 3,840/mt ($573/mt), while the price of 20MnSi billet is at around RMB 3,920/mt ($585/mt). The prices are all ex-mill, including 13 percent VAT.
Overall trading activity has slightly increased after prices reduced but still at weak level amid off-season. Upstream billet prices and other raw material prices have showed a downward trend again which mainly caused section prices to follow mostly. Supply volume recently has slightly increased. As for the week ahead, considering that the weak demand may continue, it is believed that steel section prices may fluctuate with declines.
