Chinese domestic steel section prices have showed a fluctuation with downward trend during the past week.
As for billet, prices of the semi-finished steel product in the Chinese domestic market have showed a downward trend during the past week. In Tangshan, the current price of Q235 150 x 150 mm square billet is at RMB 3,780/mt ($554/mt), the price of 165 x 225 mm rectangular billet stands at RMB 3,800/mt ($557/mt), while the price of 20MnSi billet is at around RMB 3,880/mt ($569/mt). The prices are all ex-mill, including 13 percent VAT.
Chinese steel section prices have followed a downward trend during the past week. Overall trading activity has been weak since demand side remained sluggish. Upstream billet prices and other raw material prices have recently indicated a downward trend which mainly caused steel section prices to follow. Supply volume recently has increased which lead market inventory to go up as well. As for the week ahead, considering the rising market inventory and still weak demand, it is believed that steel section prices may follow a fluctuating trend with some declines.
