Chinese domestic steel section prices have indicated an upward trend during the past seven days.
As for billet, prices of the semi-finished steel product in the Chinese domestic market have increased in the past week. In Tangshan, the current price of Q235 150 mm x 150 mm square billet is at RMB 3,480/mt ($518/mt), the price of 165 x 225 mm rectangular billet stands at RMB 3,500/mt ($521/mt), while the price of 20MnSi billet is at around RMB 3,580/mt ($533/mt). The prices are all ex-mill, including 13 percent VAT.
Chinese steel section prices have fluctuated on an upward trend after the national holiday, supported by increases in prices of billet and other raw materials. Demand for steel sections has improved slightly, while supply volumes have declined a little due to restrictions on production volumes in central China. As for the week ahead, it is believed that steel section prices may indicate slight increases, supported by improving demand and higher upstream prices.
