SteelOrbis has been informed by market sources that prices for 6 mm steel mesh in the Turkish domestic market have decreased by TRY 0.02/kg ($10/mt) since last week and are now standing at TRY 1.31-1.33/kg ($651-661/mt) ex-mill, exclusive of VAT.

Market players state that, after the gradual softening of the the US dollar against the Turkish lira, prices have decreased and the expected slowdown in construction projects amid cold weather conditions has also contributed to the price declines. Demand for steel mesh in Turkey is stable, while Turkish buyers are cautious about concluding purchases due to the unstable market conditions.

As for the export side, Turkish steel mesh offers to Turkmenistan, North Africa and Georgia are in the range of $680-700/mt FOB, while market players say that activity in the export market is stronger than activity in the domestic steel mesh market.
