Bulgarian longs prices increase sharply

Local Bulgarian long steel prices have increased in line with the positive sentiment in the import scrap segment.

Currently, domestic rebar prices in Bulgaria are at BGN 1,060-1,080/mt (€542-552/mt) CPT. The price range is valid for local traders’ offers either from stocks or for January deliveries.

In the wire rod segment, Bulgaria’s domestic prices have settled at BGN 1,110-1,130 (€568-578/mt) CPT. Local Bulgarian rebar and wire rod prices have indicated a BGN 40-50/mt (€20-26/mt) increase compared to December 11.

The price range for merchant bars is now at BGN 1,170-1,200 (€598-614/mt) CPT, with local Bulgarian merchant bar prices indicating a BGN 50-70/mt (€26-36/mt) rise over the same period.

In the import segment, by the end of last week European re-rollers were offering merchant bar to Bulgaria at €600/mt CFR while, ex-Turkey merchant bar offer was available at €560-570/mt CFR or €550-560/mt FOB for end-of-March shipment, SteelOrbis has learned.
