Brazilian producers remain negotiating wire rod of the mesh grade for export to Latin American countries in a price range of $560/mt to $570/mt FOB, the same as last week, a local market source told SteelOrbis.
According to the source, the price deals still reflect chiefly the volume exported to each client, with lower prices ascribed to higher volumes.
In July, Brazil exported 46,200 mt of wire rod, of which 19,500 mt to the US at $766/mt, 12,500 mt to South American countries at $554/mt, 8,400 mt to Asia at $536/mt, 3,000 mt to Italy at $640/mt, 2,300 mt to Costa Rica at $509/mt, and 500 mt to Canada at $838/mt, all FOB conditions, different quality grades and price deals probably closed in May.
The exports to the US and Canada, both by ArcelorMittal, refer to a specialty grade destined to produce steel cord to serve the pneumatic tire industry.
