Brazilian producers are negotiating wire rod of the mesh grade for export in a price range of $590/mt to $600/mt, FOB conditions, the same as last week, a local exporter told SteelOrbis.
He mentioned that prices are now in line with international prices of the product, especially when considering logistically favored markets such as Latin America and the Caribbean.
In March, Brazil exported 28,900 mt of wire rod, with the mesh grade exported in average at $553/mt, while the drawing grade was exported at $690/mt, both FOB conditions, with price deals probably closed in January 2018.
The destinations were the US (13,000 mt), South America (7,200 mt), the Caribbean (6,800 mt), Asia (1,200 mt) and Canada (700 mt).
ArcelorMittal exported wire rod in March at $642/mt, Gerdau at $567/mt and the Votorantim Group at $585/mt, all FOB conditions, with prices reflecting different product grades.
