Now achieving the sixth consecutive week of stability, the price of rebar for export from Brazil is $590/mt, FOB conditions, with the CA-50 grade as reference.
A local exporter mentioned that the price scenario remains unchanged: high production costs, chiefly energy, keep squeezing margins, while the competitiveness of the Brazilian rebar and other long products remains limited to markets in Latin America and the US.
Confirming such market view, Brazil exported in November 47,000 mt of rebar, of which 27,100 mt to South America, 10,000 mt to the US and 9,800 mt to the Caribbean.
The average FOB price increased by 4.7 percent to $512/mt.
ArcelorMittal exported 34,400 mt at $522/mt, Gerdau exported 9,900 mt at $476/mt and the Votorantim group exported 2,300 mt at $514/mt, all FOB conditions, with price deals probably closed in September.
