As with last week, sources close to SteelOrbis continue to indicate that spot market prices for US domestic HDG and Galvalume coil are difficult pinpoint, as the range between the low end and high end of what mills are quoting is still wide.
The greater question, sources have added, is whether prices will continue to firm through the end of the year, or whether the more than year-long pricing uptrend is reaching the top of the bell curve, and whether the pace of price upticks is starting to lose steam. “None of us know,” a source said. “If you talk to 5 different people you’re likely to get 5 different answers. All I can tell you is that what comes up, must come down. I just can’t tell you when [the market] will turn or how significant the turn will be. The best that any of us can do is to try to prepare for it before it happens.”
