The US domestic hot dipped galvanized (HDG) and Galvalume spot markets continue to hold at sideways, although some believe that price increase announcements will soon be handed out, especially since the US CRC trade case petitions have been filed; it’s believed the HRC case could be announced as soon as this week.
Sources close to SteelOrbis say at the current time, it’s all a matter of working through overstocked inventory levels and trying to manage inventory cost. In terms of current prices, the most commonly reported spot price transaction range is lateral since our last report a week ago with base price HDG coil still trending in the approximate range of $28.00-$29.00 cwt. ($617-$639/mt or $560-$580/nt), ex-Midwest mill.
