Prices, order activity and inquires within the US domestic cold rolled coil (CRC) market may have held steady since our last report a week ago, still at $28-$29 cwt. ($617-$639/mt or $560-$580/nt), ex-Midwest mill, but sources close to SteelOrbis have confirmed that import offers have started to trend quiet.
“At this point it’s not a matter of if a cold rolled trade case is going to be filed, it’s a matter of when,” according to one Midwest-based source, noting US traders are becoming increasingly wary of booking from Chinese and Indian mills, as it’s believed they will be named in any antidumping/ countervailing duty actions once they are announced. “The offers are still out there but no one is touching them with a 10-foot pole.”
