Trader sources have confirmed that US import hot dipped galvanized and Galvalume are mostly steady since our last report a week ago, adding that while additional corrections have not yet emerged, it’s likely we’ll see them in the not-too-distant future.
In terms of current import volumes, the US Department of Commerce notes that according to August census data, the US imported 271,936 mt of hot dipped galvanized sheets and strip from global sources, whereas preliminary census data from September reflects the US brought in roughly 217,915 mt of hot dipped galvanized sheets and strip. Import volumes of these products are up substantially from both Q1 and Q2 of this year.
