Sources close to SteelOrbis have confirmed that spot market prices for US import HDG and Galvalume stabilized since our last report a week ago, although market players question how long this stability will last. Others, however, still believe that “what goes up must come down,” adding that still-high prices and the months-long pricing uptrend has a limited shelf life.
“There are two scenarios in which prices will stabilize,” a souce said. “Either one, supply and demand starts to rebalance, or two, the Section 232 tarriffs are removed, which will take [offshore prices] down by 25%. I expect that one of these scenarios will play out in the fourth quarter.”
