Trader sources have confirmed that the average spot market price ranges for US import hot dipped galvanized (HDG) and Galvalume markets have remained neutral since our last report a week ago.
Yet while prices have been relatively stable on the surface, it appears that year-over-year import tonnages have declined. According to the most recent license data from the US Department of Commerce, approximately 211,165 mt of hot dipped galvanized sheet and strip was licensed to be imported during January 2020. In contrast, census data shows that in January 2019, the US imported 246,498 mt.
