Current prices in the US domestic HDG spot market have ticked down a notch in the past week; as evidenced in the chart, todays’ prices are down slightly year-over-year.
Deals below the average range, sources say, are available for volume buyers.
The question as to whether today’s mill-announced $2.00 cwt. ($44/mt or $40/nt) price increase will gain acceptance, as opposed to “stopping the bleeding,” has yet to be answered. As of time of publication, Nucor is the only mill to announce, although it’s widely held that the other US domestic flat rolled steel mills will announce shortly.
