US domestic HDG prices may have firmed slightly, week-over-week, but year-over-year pricing is down substantially. Sources close to SteelOrbis note that while mills are “doing their best” to push for transactions at the top end of the below ranges, “buyers have been resistant.”
However, market sources agree that if scrap firms during the December buy cycle, US HDG prices will likely resume their uptrend.
