Turkish HRC spot prices continue to surge upwards

Although demand in the local Turkish hot rolled coil (HRC) market has remained slack during the past week, Turkish steel producers have increased their domestic HRC prices by $40/mt on average in line with the rises seen in ex-CIS HRC offers to Turkey. Accordingly, Turkish producers' current domestic HRC prices are in the range of $500-540/mt ex-works.

Meanwhile, demand in the domestic HRC spot market remains weak since buyers are still concluding deals only to meet their immediate needs. However, following the rises seen in Turkish producers' HRC quotations, prices in the local Turkish HRC spot market have increased by $55/mt on average week on week, while hot rolled pickled and oiled coil (HR P&O) prices have risen by $40/mt on average in the same period. The price increases recorded in the spot market have also been supported by the fact that Turkish producers' offers are mostly for July shipments.
