Demand in the local Turkish hot dip galvanized (HDG) market has improved slightly after the Feast of Sacrifice holiday, but it is still at weak levels. With the support of increased demand and in line with the $12.5/mt of upward movement of domestic quotations of hot rolled coil (HRC) - the raw material for HDG production – after the holiday, Turkish HDG producers have increased their prices by $40/mt on average.

Domestic producers’ HDG prices in the local Turkish market are currently as follows:

Product

Price ($/mt)

Change ($/mt)

HDG   0.50 mm  100gr/m²

620-640

↑40

HDG   1 mm  100gr/m²

560-570

↑40

HDG   2 mm  100gr/m²

525-540

↑40

The above prices, which may differ depending on product quality, are ex-works, exclude VAT, and are for advance payments.

On the other hand, Turkish HDG export offers have increased by $30/mt on the lower end and by $40/mt on the upper end week on week to $610-640/mt FOB over the past two weeks. However, these price levels are considered to be on the high side, with foreign buyers unwilling to make new Turkish HDG bookings in this range, resulting in weak demand.
