The Turkish flat steel spot market has maintained a stable trend following the holiday period, with market participants reporting no significant changes in pricing levels despite the relatively slow pace of trading activity. Demand remains largely limited to immediate requirements, as buyers continue to avoid building up inventories and prefer to purchase only when necessary. However, the subdued trading environment has not translated into downward pressure on prices, with HRC producers continuing to keep their offer levels firm and supporting overall market sentiment. Sources indicate that, although occasional day-to-day price fluctuations can still be observed in the spot market as some traders seek to improve cash flow, transactions are generally concluded close to the prevailing mill prices. As a result, the market has continued to move in line with producers’ official levels, with no notable deterioration in spot prices reported so far.
Market sources continue to indicate hot rolled sheet (HRS) values at around $650-670/mt ex-warehouse, although larger buyers are still reported to be securing slightly lower workable levels in selected transactions.
In the cold rolled segment, tradable prices are still assessed at $740-760/mt ex-warehouse, with suppliers showing some room for negotiation depending on payment terms and tonnage.
